I am actually a sales person myself. I sell online so it's all good. Lucky for my customers I know what the hell I am talking about. It is they who don't know shit half the time. I had a guy today ask my what operating system came installed on a hard drive and would he get the hard drives drivers? Huh?

That's pretty funny. I am sure your customers sometimes do to you as some sales people do to me: tell you that you are wrong, when you know for a fact that you are right. It can be frustrating, but I just walk away laughing and that gets them.

My customers usually wind up admiting that they are wrong and ask for help. I sell SCSI devices.

Default Fry's Electronics Employee

I used to be an employee for Fry's Electonics. They fired me after 2 months for punching in a few minutes late on the time clock 5 times.

I used to work for Honeywell, IBM and now for Motorola as a service tech. I'm an A+ microsoft certified technician. My knowledge was absulutely useless working there. All they wanted from me was to answer the phones and do returns. I would service maybe 4 systems a day. Mostly just installs. Their answer for EVERYTHING is REINSTALL the OS. bah

Everything that was said in this thread is absulutely true. That place is thee most miserable retailer I've ever experienced. You won't beleive how many times I've had to hear costumers in the store scream and yell for lack of service. Many times security has escorted costumers out the door. Pathetic.

Only thing I would ever buy there is a $3 keyboard, mouse or $5 DVD movie.

STAY AWAY from ECS motherboards. THey use SIS drivers. Only buy a MB that has Intel or VIA drivers.

hey hey now! don't dis ECS (although not all thier boads use SiS chipsets). I have an ECS board with a SiS chipset. And I run very good preformance, and stability. I can game all damn night with no problems whatsoever.

However I do know other people who got this board and have had problems with getting it to run on a generic PSU of any wattage.

Default ECS MB

You wouldn't beleive the returns on those motherboards. You would have to search a stack of 100 at the bottom to find one that hasn't been returned yet. BTW, Fry's policy is to resell anything thats been returned. They simply just put a sticker on it coded to tell stockers of its status. Admitably most returns are from people that have no business and no idea how to work with computer componants. So most returns have nothing wrong with them. But you are rolling the dice.

I got my ESC k7S5a Pro motherboard to work with a AMD1800 and GeForce4 DDR64meg videocard. But its not performing like I would have expected. I called Albatron the videocard maker and they are pointing at the SIS drivers on that ECS MB> They advised to only stick with Intell and VIA MB chipset drivers.

well the fry's that i go to by sacramento is pretty good, i had to bring my mobo back and they did some crap but didnt help (i found outby myself that it was a virus that was disabling ide devices). but so far the only good thing i got from them is a 512 MB no-name stick of ddr and a really good cathode w/ sound sensor for $15.00. the only reason i'd buy there is if there was a good deal and it wasnt crap.

i bought my sound cad from best buy

case, soon-to-be mobo from www.newegg.com

heatsink, heatsink fan, arctic silver 3, thumb and fanscrews, soon-to-be uv blue ide cables + 6" uv cathode from www.svc.com

everything else is pos and my parents got it from fry's.

btw where my fry's iis now it used to be incredible universe and it had the best customer service ever....never bought anything from them though.
