Cause:
I suspect you are going to the Run command and typing ipconfig, then pressing ENTER. The program runs through completion (which is very quick) then returns that it is done; since the command window is open only for that program, it closes. Solution: What you need to do is go to the Run command. Type command.com and press ENTER. Then type ipconfig and press ENTER.
