288 MB SO-RIMM Comes to Market
We all know that we’ll soon need to find new uses for our DIMMs, just as we did for our SIMMs. With a little ingenuity and a bit of magnetic tape, it really is possible to turn those old volatile chips into attractive refrigerator magnets. In the near future, SO-RIMM modules will be the style of the day and HCD just let us know that it will turn loose 288MB SO-RIMMs in Q2 of 2001. HCD's 288MB ECC configuration already has Rambus validation and listing on the Rambus developers' site. Scheduled for volume production in June 2001, the 288MB module is bretheren to the rest of the HCD SO-RIMM product family, which ranges in frequency from 600MHz to 800MHz and densities up to 288MB in both ECC and non-ECC configurations.
