I'm sort of in the same boat as you're in when it comes to internal fans.  I  have a lot of fans in my case right now and I need to eliminate some of them.  They're noisy critters. I'd like to replace a couple of key fans with more powerful but quieter fans too.  So, I'll let you know if I find some decent ones.

My wife just had surgery today...hospital is about an hour away.  I just got home...midnight...but I had to get on here for at least a few minutes to see if you had responded.  Thanks for responding so quickly.  I will be interested in reading about what you have found out regarding fans.  I may break down and buy rounded cables and perhaps a 60mm to 80mm fan adapter with a good 80mm fan (Papst, Sanyo Denki, or ???).  Let me know what you find out.  Later....

I hope your wife feels better.  Hope it isn't anything serious.

Just female stuff.  Had a cyst on her uterus about the size of a softball.  It had been giving her quite a bit of pain.  All looks well and the doctors are very positive.  What a relief!  You just never know what they may find when  they get in there and start poking around.  Hopefully she will be able to come home tomorrow.  But then I get to do the husbandly thing and take care of her.  The kids are gone on a trip...be back this weekend and my wife's mother will come next week to help out.  All in all, it is working out to be quite a blessing, all things considered.  Thanks for the concern.

Why not make em yourself?
Ive done this many times---no cutting of the cable involved...
Let your cable sit in the sun then fold it longwise about 3-4 times and wrap it with spiralwrap to hold it,   you can get it at your local autoparts store, or use baby zipties or even electrical tape, I use those Plycon braided steel covered cables with my Clearcase, they just look REAL cool! (VERY expensive tho)
