If you have the chance to still do this, I would suggest getting a Western Digital Special Edition instead of the Maxtor. It will most likely be around the same price range because the Maxtor is ATA133, but even though the WD uses slower data transfer, it beats any other hard drive in speed, and it still follows the WD legacy of stability.

Default HEHE

No way man *LOL* I purchased my 80 ata 133 maxtor for $99.99 new and have had nothing but good luck, and in pass mark and other benchmarking software I have seen no less than 147mb/s tranfers. This drive rocks, in my last system "now my girls" I had the ata 133 40 gb that is still running perfect and very fast. I have had a few probs with western digital and will now never buy anything from them again, I use only seagate and maxtor now for my pc's Sorry I am very opinionated *LOL*

I have also had problems with a WD drive of mine. I will never buy one as well. I have an IBM drive right now and it has been perfect. Next step Ultra160.

I'll keep my eye out but ebay is the first place i went before asking you. I saw a few drives up but they were like 300.00. I got mu ultra160 drives for 50.00. If I go with ultra 320 I will get an MB with 64Bit PCI slots.

The last time I tried ATA raid it was shit. The benchmarks did nothing for me.
