They aren't the ones doing the performance stuff though, and I don't know who is, if anyone, but I don't think it would offer too much of a challenge now that control of the OS is now open to any one.

mod chips are available in th u.s

what does mod chip have to do with this?

although would mod chip still work with linux loaded?

It depends on how linux is implemented for xbox. They might just tell linux not to see it, if there is one. Or linux might use it to do something else within the system.

but mod chip is for playing copied games and DVDs
its basicaly for doing illegal stuff
or using "backed up" CDs and DVDs


unless they design new chips for other purposes but it wouldnt be called mod chips

Yes they are used to play copied games and imports. But some programmers might be able to use it for something else through linux.
