Default The end of spam??????

A new measure in congress will go a long way to stem the tide of spam but will not stop it. Among the good things are:

1. Jail time and fines for pornography and get-rich-quick scheme spam.

2. Senders must properly identify themselves.

3. Requests for removal from a mailing list must be honored

4. A do not spam registry will be authorized for the FTC to setup.

You will still get spam but at least it should be of a better flavor. The bill has passed through congress and is now on it's way to the president for his signature.

am i the only one who thinks of the donotspam registry as the spammers wetdream?? studies are already indicating that hackers and spammers are hooking up, meaning that you are not dealing with legitimate business people who can be expected (wait, can legitimate business people be expected, i don't know, but yea) to follow the law. thus this list might just be a list of known good email addresses for people who are not really worried about laws to use to send spam to accounts. i'll wait a while before signing up

yeah, but what about PHP. Someone will have to re-write the mail code to be compatable with this new protocol. And not all hosters out there update PHP. So, I'll probably be screwed.

I heard that the canspam act is actually less strict than several state laws in which they replace. At any rate, action is action and action against spam is good.
