Default media problem

i use windows me and suddenly the other day my computer stopped reading media files. I tried all different players and nothing worked it just tries to open the file and then after waiting a while i push stop wich causes the computer to freeze it wont work for video or audio files of any sort.
Also my keyboard suddenly is acting weird doulbe typing pushing keys when i dont touch them.

my videos work in safe mode though and quicktime will only work in safe mode as well. if i reformat i will have to try and find all my disks. any suggestions of what might cause this would be helpfull

go to run, msconfig and disable all startup entries

i just discovered my flooppy drive is not working how else can i reformat with out a startup disk

boot off a different drive and format it in my computer or dos

Go to BIOS settings and tell it to go to the CD-ROM for first boot device and burn yourself a boot cd or use an OS CD.
