Default PCI vs AGP

I have an old system with nvidia 5200 PCI card. I recently put together a new one but kept my old PCI card until i can get a new beter AGP card I am having some slow down and bad graphics. What can I do to fix these in the interim and does it have to do with the open AGP slot?

well the thing is that pci sucks.. and so does the 5200.. so basically save up for a good agp card.
