Default AMD 939 Pictures

A chinese site has some pictures of the new AMD 939.

AMD 939

The 939 will be launched shortly by AMD and will feature advanced instructions as well as a dual channel memory controller built into the cpu. This means supreme performance over almost all current chips on the market. Until the 939 launches Intel has memory bandwidth edge over the single memory controller of the AMD 64 (754 pin). With the 939 launch it will be interesting to see the performance gap close further and the possibility of AMD taking a good performance lead at significantly lower clock speeds.

Given that the current high end P4 Prescott is a known heat producer, a cool running (relatively) 939 AMD with a performance lead over the P4 could hurt Intel's consumer base.

Stay tuned as TWL will be bringing our readers a 939 review VERY shortly.

Personally I believe that the AMD 939 when paired with some of the aftermarket boards that will be available in 2-3 months after, will really lay the smack down on Intel. It seems lately Intel has been floundering around without a true direction or performer. The old "speed crown" can no longer be given out so easily to Intel.
