Setting up BIOS for a 2 partition dual boot drive ???

My current hard drive has two partitions, Win2K Pro on one and Win 98 on the other.
I want to install this drive in another computer I put together.
When I attemp to boot I get the error message "NTLDR is missing" and it wont boot.
I can put the drive back in my old PC and it boots fine.
NTLDR, the boot.ini file and NTDetect.com are on the drive.

How do I set up the BIOS on the new board to so it boots like it should?

I had it set to auto detect the drive but that didn't work.

Asus K7V-T
Athlon 1000mhz T-Bird Slot A CPU
Maxtor 40 gig 7200 RPM HDD
1.5 gig Micron PC133 CL2 RAM

That's what I'm trying to use the HDD in.

You have to re-install the OS's. The BIOS has nothing to do with dual booting. Any installation of an OS cannot be used with different equipment.

So if I wanted to use a mobile rack to swap the HDs between computers it wont work?
How is that done?

The only difference between the two PCs is,

Asus K7V-T
Athlon 1000mhz T-Bird Slot A

Asus K7V
Athlon 1000mhz Classic Slot A

Everything else is the same, ram, video card, OS and drives.

I'm pretty certain you still need an installation for each setup, no matter how similiar they are.

Create an ERD from the original system. Put the drive in the 2nd system and boot from the ERD. It should fix the boot.ini file so you can boot normally.

As long as the hardware is the same, Win2K will boot. However, the mobo versions are slightly different and the HAL might pick that up. If it does, your only option is to re-install.

well, this might be a pain to do on every shutdown/reboot, this can help on a windows system for clean movement b/w most hardware. You might be able to come up with a script to do that more quickly with. Not sure though. Still sounds like more trouble than its worth

Would Drive Copy work if I formatted another drive in the other system then copy everything to it,
or would I end up with a copy of the same problem?
