Default NAV and the System Tray

I've used Norton Anti Virus for ages. It comes with something called LiveUpdate which prompts me periodically to update my virus definitions. This used to pop up as a dialog box about once a fortnight, but.....

all of a sudden, the fortnightly prompts have been replaced by a tiny icon in my System Tray (Windows XP) that just sits there flashing away incessantly. If I update, it's back again the next day. If I tell it that I don't want another update it goes away for about an hour, then starts pestering me again, which is driving me nuts!

Is this changeable by a setting somewhere? I'd really like to go back to the old fortnightly reminders that I used to have.
