Default STOP THE SPAM

I've personally tried to be what I consider to be reasonable with regards to the lot of spam that we have here kindly given to us by the regulars; I've noticed that other moderators/admins have done the same. James and I have also warned against spamming threads of a serious nature (BTW, thanks James, your reminders have helped me avoid spamming) and yet many of the members have only increased the amount of spamming in these threads.

To see what I am talking about, just visit this thread. It was taken out of this thread, which was a request for help. If you are not going help out with the problem posed, do not post. Not all of the posts in the thread composed of spam are necessarily bad, but they weren't helpful to the topic, either. Ten useless posts in less than 27 hours; if only the word ridiculous could describe it.

Certain members of this have repeatedly made remarks as to how few regulars are left. I'm surprised that it isn't obvious why.

EDIT://BTW, don't spam in this thread, either. It's not cute, and it will only show your maturity, or lack there of. Also, it will point out a lack of creativity in your humor (yes, that means you aren't being original when copying an age old response).

Did you stop to think that is exactly what he's talking about?

Jason, what's with all the negativity? Did you torture and kill small furry animals when you where a child?

The creation of this thread is spam... You tell me what's with it.. lately i've noticed you to be more on edge and not the calm cool and collected cikotic of yesteryear...

and that quoting business that you call spam is just because there isn't anything else to do here.. You can't blame people leaving (ET is the only one and he didn't give a reason) on the member base, but the lack of content.

Tomshardware, driverheaven and anandtech are biased pos's.. at least that's popular belief. TWL is biased as well (amd... do you see any intel reviews?.. wait.. do you see any reviews at all? )
Which brings up my point.. Forums don't thrive on thier own.. They (and more importantly the mother site) need real content that people care about, and lots of it!

HardOCP and hardforum are possibly the most popular and successful site and forum for computer stuff there is. I hate almost every rule and policy of that forum, but it has way too many users and way too much content to ignore!

If you whored that forum 24/7 you couldn't keep up.. 5 min a day here keeps this covered.. :/

So back to topic, don't blame the forum's problems on me... I'm not even a staff mod for crying out loud... i'm not that powerful..

Jason, your problem is that you never have anything helpful or constructive to say. You always seem to either ridicule or take the opposite position. Why is that? Why must you always be the antagonist in a thread? You are obviously a dedicated (over 4000 posts) and knowledgeable person. What thrill can you possibly get from consistently trying to piss people off?

The TWL forum is primarily a "help" forum. People usually find their way here because they have some sort of a problem and are seeking help, not for someone to put them down because they are not computer savvy as you. What Vee Ess is saying is if you can't type in a message that does not help, don't type anything at all. It's that simple. Join in conversations and offer help and advice. Type in stuff that carries the conversation in a good way instead of adversarial. That's what keeps people coming back. Take overclockers.com for example, you never see anyone on their forums ridiculing others. Everyone posts helpful and useful information that helps even those that don't post at all. They know that they don't have to post to get the information they are looking for.

Jason, I am very sorry if you think I oppose you all the time. Please believe me that it's only because you seem to always put me on the defensive. And if you review your posts and look at them constructively, you will see that you tend to do that with everyone else. People don't like that and I'm sure even you can appreciate that. I'm about to call TWL a waste of time and move on just because I'm afraid if I post anything because I'll get put down or made to look stupid. Maybe this will be my last post.... I'm not sure. I need to have some more beer before I make that decision.

Why all the drama?

Threads and posts like these never really change anything.

You make this sound like some chic-flick drama queen episode...

I've never seen overclockers.com's forums because they have the ugliest site in the universe so I wouldn't know...

NOT ONLY THAT, but assuming the things you say about me are true, you have to open your eyes and see the other people that are doing it!

That thread that vee linked to is a good example, the cannon bozo says a page of ALBERT and people just laugh.. but then stinkymojo (the mass provoker of the world that turns the forum against me...), myself and I dunno who else went to doing the quoting thing because we were reinforcing the point of "wtf" that was being quoted...

hell.. keefe spams more than I do...

Don't make everything such a big deal... I don't..

ok, sorry i started the whole wtf thing in that thread. my fault, and i'm leaving now.

j/k

but really, that stupid albert thing really was a pain in the butt. i had to remember the point of the thread to begin with. and jason425 did point out that it was most likely spyware.

just my $0.02.

and sorry, i was looking at the main site the other day, and realized somthing. i never go there, i alway come straight to the forums. there is no content, jason is right on that point. i actually have never seen anything updated. the only thing i remeber seeing new is that case clean up guide.

sorry guys, i still dig the forum though! and no one ever talks on irc.

later

Jason, forget it man... you just don't get it and I give up trying to explain it to you.

TWL is all yours so by all means keep spewing your animosity and blaming others for your shortcomings. I'm sure you'll continue to be loved for it.
