There are 8ms LCD's, ET. They just aren't very available to consumers, and they lack in contrast ratios, anyways.

Well, that's because LCDs suck. CRTs kill them in every area except size (footprint/deskspace).

I still say that (good) LCD's are FAR clearer and easier on the eyes than crt's...

LCDs are already at a bottom low right now

price is outta rebound so the manufacturers can make some profits back from the money theyve lost in these couple of months due to hardcore old stock clearing

such a cutthroat market
it is scary

OLEDs wont be mainstream for a long while
not for another year i would predict

so LCD market wont go crazy for that reason soon
i can only think of some other reasons that relates to global economy now to effect the pricing "rules" in the next 4 months

but 2001fp is getting old
perhaps you should look into some better 23"?

They likely will. Their physical limitations aren't as interfering as the limitations of LCDs. Contrast ratios will be able to eventually be in the same league as the top CRTs (four or five thousand to one), something LCDs will never be able to near (efficiently and cost-effectively). Luminance and chromaticity can be much more accurate than LCDs. Right now, manufacturers are having trouble with the lifetime of OLEDs when they keep them performing high. Also, they are they are emissive so various aspects of accuracy won't be sacrificed at wide viewing angles (like CRTs and plasma displays). The OLEDs will also solve some of the problems associated with CRTs (obviously size being one of them). OLEDs will be significantly lower in low freq. emissions, they will be the most energy efficient, and will not have convergence problems. Basically, it'll have the accuracy and performance of a CRT with the ergonomics of an LCD (except, currently with the lifetime of a plasma).

EDIT: Something to note... SMOLEDs (small molecule OLEDs) are easily better than anything else, but aren't taking over yet because current production techniques keep us from putting them in anything bigger than cell phones.
