You said Hard drives in your first post which are PIO. CD-ROMs are DMA. So which are you having problems with?

you want all of your IDE devices to be running in DMA

if PIO, its really really crappy
especially for bootdrives

he wants his HDD to run in DMA66 which it is having problems doing so

i really dont know what to suggest now
except...
since its pre windows detection problem
drivers wont matter much
but whats there to lose if you go update your IDE drivers for the mobo

Actually I want it in UDMA100 (HD and MB are both 100)

it's definetly not window, on the second boot screen it says 33
