If you look at the way the programs work, both have very similar methods of adding on components. The fact is, if these add-on methods of the browsers weren't there, large amounts of functionality would be lost. It's a necessity. Now, for those who say they've used both and that they haven't gotten any spyware via FF but they have via IE, I say think about it. Most people who don't know computers very well use IE. Those who are trying to spread spyware to their targets are likely not going to use IE. As more people switch to FF, those responsible for browser hijacks will switch to FF, as well.
