Default IPConfig Fails in XP

Did anyone ever provide a resolution? I am getting a similar error:

C:\Windows\System32>ipconfig /all

Windows IP Configuration

An internal error occurred: The request is not supported.

Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help.

Additional information: Unable to query host name.

I've tried everything in this post and even called the helpless desk.
Any other suggestions? Please IM at samooreatl
