The GeForce 8600 GT ships at 540MHz for the core and 700MHz for the memory
with a 128-bit memory interface, however the Foxconn card we are looking at
is one of their overclocked editions shipping in the box with a higher core
speed of 560MHz and a memory speed of 780MHz. A very nice bump indeed of
20MHz for the core and 80MHz for the memory. We were able to push things a
little further to 605MHz for the core and 810MHz for the memory clockspeed.
As with the GeForce 8600 GTS it features 32 stream processors, far from the
number on the higher-end GeForce cards.
How were we able to do this? Foxconn doesn't ship their card with the
standard heatsink but a much larger, flower shaped heatsink and a wider fan.
It isn't as sleek as the standard Nvidia cooler and the heatsink will cover
the next slot over but does a much better job cooling than the stock
coolers.
