In a bizarre twist of events a company contracted by both the RIAA and the MPAA named MediaDefender has been implicated in a denial of service attack that brought the site http://www.revision3.com down this past holiday weekend. MediaDefender uses denial of service attacks to bring sites that illegally traffic in copyright material offline. Revision3 is a company that deals and distributes only legal media for which it hold the copyright or has permission to redistribute. The FBI is investigating the matter.
