Need allot more detail than that.

What Operating System and version are you running.

What is the exact error message in both cases, the regclean and the Internet Explorer reinstall.

How much memory does your 486 have?

How much free space do you have on the hard drive?

Before the problem did you install or un-install any software or hardware?

let's go from there.

OK some more details
OS = Windows95b
Exact message=Unable to locate exported function #5 in    KERNEL32.DLL
RAM=64 Mb
Free space on HDDs= HD1(C) 59Mb HD2(D) 204Mb
HD3(E) 119MB
MB=Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 rev. 1.8 (would like to find a rev.2.0
or rev. 2.1)
CPU=AMD DX4=120  (MB reports it as a DX2 @ 120Mhz   that's
why I want a rev. 2.x)
Cache=512k WB
I'm not really sure when problem started, have installed a few
softwares but I do not know which could've caused the problem. I happens while surfing on some sites, maybe a java
problem ? or then trying to reinstall MSIE 5.5.
What is exported function #5 ?

Well for that old of a bios and system alltogether running IE 5.5 is a heck of a load on the system.

I think you may have some damaged files. Running repair doesn't resolve it right?

You say some sites do it but not all. Can you recreate the error by going back to the same site it crashed on or does it sometimes work?

I would see if there is a bios update for your board and possibly go back a step in Internet Explorer to at least 5.02 and see what you get.

File corruption is always a possibility in windows as well. My need a good clean n fresh install of windows.

Your C drive only has 59MB of free space. Where is your virtual memory pointing to? C drive? If so change it to piont to the D: Drive as you have more space available. You windows doesn't have very much elbo room to work in.

other than that I'm at a lose and not sure what else to suggest. Good luck.

Sounds like if you stay away from that one site and don't re-install 5.5 you're on the road to happiness then  :
