Python

Thanks for the recommendation Simo, but I have a question.  Im in networking by heart but I would love to learn some programming that can be used hand in hand with administration.  What kind of functionality can I get with Python?  Is it applicable to what I want to use it for or should I just stick with my original ideal of pickin up a VB book? (which Ill probably do anyway for certs)
