Default Help me help someone else

I have a user that every time she opens up one excel spreadsheet in particular or one icon on her screen it creates a shortcut.  She is running NT 4.0.  Just seems weird to me.

If this user opens the one Spreadsheet, then saves it as something else does the same thing happen?

I would also suggest ensuring they are using the latest and greatest virus definition and check for a worm or the like.

Does sound very strange. Look at the properties of the shortcut, what's in the program line? There may be some extra code in the line creating the shortcuts?

Curious to hear more on this.

No just opening the file creates the shortcut.  Running NAV Corprate edition so it should be up to date.  Just freaky beyond all reason.  I will check and see where it's pointing to.  Thanks

Yhea it's point to a diffrent folder and all that.  Does anyone know much about NAV corprate edition.  Everything else is automated but form some of the messages I see it seems that you have to go in and manully clean files.  I don't thing my administator really knows or cares.  I quess everyone likes to leave it to the low man on the scrotum pole.  :

I never got my hands on the Administrator Side of the corporate edition but we did use it at my company and had no trouble with it.

Sounds like you need to get into it and check what it scans for. NAV 2k, 2k1 are ok but 2002 is the best yet. I haven't had a single trouble as of yet since installing it and well it takes care of itself. I haven't had to do anything and it's kept me clean.

Everything relating to the corp. ed. is run from the server and unless the Admin sets it up correctly and ensure that all the stations are updated properly and scanned completely you're SOL guy.

Tired and burned out, am I making any sense. Maybe next time eh?
