as for your question, I'm not totally sure what you're saying.

Is there any way I can make my computer a server or something so I could use the internet through my computer?

Yeah. I found a webstie, that if you have an always-on connection at home (or any computer that's internet is not blocked by BESS), you write down the number it gives you, and blocks BESS...It is only temporary...after you log off (novell, windows, restart, etc.) it goes back to normal...so supposedly the geeks at your school don't know. My school uses Novell with XP's, 95s and 98s and it works...here's the website:

I haven't check that site, nor am I familar with "BESS"
but if your School Admin's are halfway competent (many aren't due low pay offered by most schools) and have decent software /equipment (again, low budget kills the best layed plans), they should be able to block any port, site, or user. from anything they choose. And if they can't, then why have them or any software "blocker".

I think someone posted a question identical or similar to this a while back. Try searching the forums for more insight.

Default Ahh Bess...

My school used to use Bess... But we figured out too many ways around it So they had to go with some state funding thingy.... You can get around it with proxies no problem.

Our schools IT guy is totally dumb in the mind. First off he is the second highest pay individual at our school ($70,000 a year) and he buys only Apple Macintosh crap. It sux. :-( The funny part is he doesn't know any of the school's network infrastructure.

He either gets me to do it or they hire a dude for $1000 a day. Basically, he sux.
