What I listen to depends on what I'm doing at the time. If i'm just riding my bike around, i'll probably listen to NPR (aka radio). If i'm reading history or non-formal theory, i'll probably listen to rap/hip-hop/lyric based music (Jedi Mind Tricks, Atmosphere, Talib Kweli, Black Star .. . there's more). If i'm working on formal theory (math/logic based stuff) i'll probably listen to slower music that has no distractions (i.e. instrumental classical, crouching tiger or city of lost children soundtracks and the like). It's important for it to not be too fast paced so that I don't try reading too fast sense the material I am working with is really dense. If i'm writing I want to work at a fast pace, so I'll listen to more technoish high paced stuff (ATB, Prodigy, Propellerheads, Ministry, etc.). Of course, I have a 20GB player, so that's not everything, but its probably the stuff I hit up the most, unless I am forgetting something.
