Default 10/100 EtherJet CardBus Adapter problem

I have a IBM thinkpad and I wanted to connect it to my LAN, I installed the card, it is also an ibm and a 32-bit pc card. Anyway I wanted to use the ethernet/networking port in the back of my thinkpad and the helpcenter said If it was sealed, with a little plastic block, than I needed to use the card. The problem is that I dont have a LAN Adapter Cable, Which then the Rj45 cord goes into. I just wanted to connect the rj45 cord to the network port on the back of my computer not through the card, if this is impossable or possable help would be great. Thanks anyway and the operating system is windows NT 2000 professional

No I went back in and edited it to say 2000, I had 200 their instead, and it had a defined word, which was operating system and it say all that crap. And when I submitted it again it didn't turn it back into a blue word again, I dont know why and I dont care.

Ok so, when I use the IBM Help center on my computer it says that if the ethernet networking port, the one on the right, has a little plastic cover on it then you need to use the 10/100 etherjet cardbus adapter. Thus I need this cord to conver it from the connection on the card to an RJ 45 connection. I wanted to know if I can just have the card in, and installed, and use the port on the back of my computer, one on the right not the phone line one, and still get my connection. Or did IBM put it there for show and is it not even connected inside the computer and that is why their is a black plastic cover on it. And yes I pulled of the plastic cover and their is a slot so i connected my Lan cord into it but the little lights dont blink so now i am wondering if it wont work my way. If you understand this now any help would be great. Thanks

Contact the card's manufacturer and see if they'll sell you the connector cord. If they won't, try on ebay.

However, my advice would be not to use a CardBus LAN if you can possibly avoid it. Regardless of what the IBM Help Center says, what happens if you remove the CardBus LAN and open up Device Manager? Device Manager will tell you whether or not the onboard LAN is present.

I recently bought a used laptop PC which has both onboard LAN and CardBus LAN. The onboard LAN is over 12 times faster than the CardBus LAN.
