Default Banks Hit With New Spoofing Attacks

I am forced to believe that there is a growing mass population of people who are being born into this world with no other purpose than to steal, lie, and cheat their way through life. All with me on this give me an AMEN in the comments section.

Phishing for your financials:

Three Florida banks have had their Web sites compromised by hackers in an attack that security experts are calling the first of its type.

Earlier this month, attackers were able to hack servers run by the Internet service provider that hosted the three banks' Web sites. They then redirected traffic from the legitimate Web sites to a bogus server, designed to resemble the banking sites, according to Bob Breeden, special agent supervisor with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's Computer Crime Center.

Users were then asked to enter credit card numbers, PINs, and other types of sensitive information, he said.

Amen. Not a bad idea though, not bad. Haven't anyone else thought of this before, or is it a first timer?

I think that 'growing mass" has always been there...I think technology just widen the possibilites of what people can do...and the information highway accelerated the growth...

And hey...florida...my home state...lovely...

I don't want to beat up on Florida banks or anything, but what's with them?
I went through one of the first internet scams having to do with cashier's checks a few years ago ...and it was a Florida bank! I was told by an investigator that they were usually Florida banks. Hmm.

When I saw that this post was new I assumed they were talking about the newer phishing attack that involves phone verification where people with asterisk servers aggregate all the automated voice stuff from the real banks phone system and people can access their account in a similar manner seamlessly on a poisoned phone line.
