Default Rant/Winge

<rant>
my phone line has developed an annoying cracking sound that, while certainly being annoying during a call also has another annoying side effect.
I am forced to surf the net @31200 bps as opposed to my normal 52000bps because of this dam noise on my line.
i SOOOOO want broadband, but I cant get optus@home(australia) and I refuse to sign up for for telstras 3gig cap.
*sigh*
lets hope that we get afew more viable broadband options in the near future in this country.
</rant>
P.S To all none aussies reading this, sorry if you cant relate.

I think its 3 gig uploads and downloads from your computer in a month, after which they charge you alot of money per meg, not sure how much but i think its 0.18.
telstras ADSL costs about AUD75.00 a month, and get this there speeds are often (re: nearly all the time) slower than dialup.
And because they wholesale the copperlines to other ISPs not that much cheaper than they retail them to consumers, noone can compete with them.
ADSL rollout in australia has been the running joke of the last year. What could have been a technical triumph is a absolute ripoff.
the support sucks, the speeds are a joke, and the pricing is stupid.  They charge $75 for 3gig, where as if they increased it to 15gig and charged $100 they would get heaps more subscribers....*sigh*...someone will do something soon hopefully.
If you want to see some SERIOUSLY unhappy ADSL subscribers check out
