Round I:

[19:29] <ErrorFroz> i think i am getting hacked. my modem lights are flashing...
[19:30] <SirGoblin> ErrorFroz: see all the cables behind your computer, rip them all out and you'll be fine
[19:31] <ErrorFroz> but wont that make my computer shut down?

[19:31] <Pissedoff> omg ... heh ...
[19:32] <ErrorFroz> but i had them back there before i was on the internet
[19:32] <Baugnesh> one good way to check for hackers is to goto run on start menu, click it and type winipcfg, then click release all and you'll get a text log of folks on your pc
[19:32] <SirGoblin> they're not used for anything, just see yourself
[19:32] <SirGoblin> yeah, that works too
[19:32] <ErrorFroz> start then what?
[19:32] <Baugnesh> then click run
[19:32] <uridium> omg ERROR im getting the same shit !
[19:33] <Baugnesh> and type winipcfg then hit enter

[19:34] <ofcr_borg> ErrorFroz: click release all now
[19:34] <uridium> if im getting hacked can i still be on this channel ?
[19:34] <ErrorFroz> release all?
[19:35] <Baugnesh> to right a log file, didnt you read what i said, it shows whos on your internet connection and using your ip
[19:35] <SirGoblin> ErrorFroz: yeah
[19:36] *** Quits: ErrorFroz (~i4u2nv@192.139.219.40) (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))

[19:38] <SirGoblin> ErrorFroz: no, I think they fucked up your connection
[19:38] <SirGoblin> the hackers

[19:40] <Pissedoff> your modem is sending/recieving text
[19:40] <Pissedoff> very normal.

I pity the tech support guy who gets a call from Error... He's going to have quite a fun time with him. I can see it now...

Tech: So what is wrong with the computer?
Error: Well I get a black screen and it says "no fixed disk present".

Tech: What was the last thing you did on the computer?
Error: Well nothing really, I was just surfing the net and chatting on IRC... I think I might have gotten hacked, cause my modem was flashing.

So on and so forth for about an hour, before eu will say that he did a deltree and rebooted in between...

I still think some people need to pass an IQ test before they own a computer. They have to at least be smarter than a rock...

Is this sort of thing legal under the United States Constitution (Amendment VIII, to exact)? His only crime is ever trying to use a computer while being such a newbie...

good ole IRC, don't you just love it

why don't you lot come into the TWL IRC Channel >:)

one of the channels i reg in, i have a popular quote of me doing something that someone said in IRC;

<demagogue> :(){ :|:&};:
<demagogue> type that at a bash prompt
<dg> not recommended
* Antony ssh'es to bacardi
<Antony> [1] 21057
<Antony> what does it do :'(
<ross> er I can't ssh to bacardi
<taz> 1:01pm up 3 days, 20:11, 4 users, load average: 714.55, 670.25, 890.24

(hint, im Antony)

what demagogue told me to try at a bash prompt (linux command line shell) was a forkbomb which basically crashes the computer so it needs a reboot, the only linux access i had at the time was to one of the irc opers servers (webserver, mail server, IRC server for that network...) bacardi, so i ssh'ed (secure telnet) to it and tried it (i didn't know what it did at the time), very quickly the box was basically dead in the water, the oper was not very please at having to go out on a sunday morning to reboot it :(
