Default DirectX 9.0 Released

"DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs." For the wary, here's a warning: "The DirectX 9.0 runtime cannot be uninstalled. We recommend Windows Millennium and XP users create a 'System Restore' point before installing."

Bogart that sucker right here!

Went ahead and downloaded it, gained 300+ points on 3dse with my normal setup! Pretty cool without trying or setting for a good score dx8.1b scored 12,200 or so, switched to dx9 and hit 12,547. Mabey tommorow I will try to break 13,000 with my 2100+... Again that is just my norm setup without pushing the system hehe

One thing I did notice is that some tests seem to run in lower res on dx9..??? as in the screen items are allot bigger like the freaky thing in the chair and the round doughnut thing... aslo the ocean looks ect... anyone else notice this..??

But all in all everything seems cool, played flight sim 3 and ut2003 with no probs so give it a try

Default DirectX 9.0 problem warning

I've installed directx 9.0 and the only problem I've noticed is that some games do not run in multiplayer mode. For instance, I re-installed Dungeon Siege because all of my friends are now into it. I went to play multiplayer with a friend and the game crashes in trying to load the host/join screen under networking. The only difference from previous play and now is directx 9.0.

Default directx 9.0

I also have the same problem when trying to play multiplayer with a friend. We bought the same laptop from dell but the only thing difference was that I dled directx 9.0 and he didn't. I tried to play praetorians and it crashes everytime. His run fine. Is there a way to go back to 8.1?

it's probably a conflict between different versions of directplay.

there is a program out there that wipes directX out so you can reinstall. unforutinetly, I don't remember what it's called
