Default motherboards and bios.. only a memory for me..

OK to make a long story short.. I no longer have a bootable p4t533-c.. just after flashing the bios.. go figure.. so here is where i'm a bit clueless.. What should i do with the board? Throw it up on ebay saying it needs a new cmos? Throw it out to the dog? Hit it with a baseball bat? Somehow pick up a new chip?

if you havnt tried to clear cmos try that. if you have first i would contact asus. if the chip isnt saudered in, some companies( i dont know about asus)will actually send you an new chip, pop it in and you are toasty warm, if not they might rma it or you might be able to send it in for service. there are also flash recovery companies out there on the net.

clear it as in take the battery out? I can't go back into a flash program.. I had a hard time even finding the cmos because it doesn't have the shiny sticker (what i was looking for) just looked at it and it doesn't look like it's coming out.

you need a chip extractor to take those cmos chips out

IC chip extractors come in 2 formats usually

because there are 2 different types of bios chips

alot of main boards have a jumper which will clear the cmos, check your manual. you can buy the tool to remove your bios(if needed) at raidioshack for 10 bucks

If you still have the reciept of purchase on this mobo. Call ASUS and get a RMA #, send it in for replacement. Most mobo's from ASUS are guranteed for 3 yrs. As far as getting the manual, I can't believe you have it put away, and can't get it?? Most people keep the mobo and other component manual's in the same room with the system. This way the documentation is readily available if needed.
