Default Operating Systems Exam help

hey all.. i'm doing Operating Systems during the summer (i'm in australia) and about to do my final exam..

From the past papers, i'm getting stuck on two questions.. if anyone could tell me the answers, it would helpful to me

Question (1)

The Operating system requires hardware support to fulfil some of its functions.

a. Give three examples of hardware mechanisms, which can be provided in a modern computer system to support operating system.

b. Briefly descrive one hardware mechanism of your choice. Make sure to state why this mechanism is necessary, and what would be the consequences of not providing it.

Question (2)

Modern operating systems are built using functional components (or modules):

a. Give threee examples of such components.

b. Select one of the compenents give in the answer to (a) and list the functions it provides, and responsiblities it has within the operating system.

input output devices(name ur own)

CPU-without the cpu the computer would be unable to process the thousands of commands coming out of the OS.
