Antec has sent letters to many manufacturers of LED Fans claiming to hold the patent rights to LED lighted fans, and asking them to cease selling. This is a bad move for Antec, the money collected in any lawsuits won't compare to the tide of angry resellers and enthusiasts. Brace for the price of LED fans to increase folks. Interestingly enough the patent was issued in January 2004 and its easy to remember such LED fans being sold in 2002 or earlier. Of course if no one else has patented this type of device it will be judged in Antec's favor.

It seems that the copyright was just granted recently and that Antec had a "Patent Pending" for quite a while. Check out the official Press release here.
