Default How to manually update McAfee VirusScan 8

After a long time of searching I finally found out how to update McAfee 8/2004 or 9/2005 manually.

How do I manually update VirusScan 8 or 9?

To manually update the product, you will need an unzipping program (like Winzip from www.winzip.com) to extract the update files. Instructions found below.

Download the dat-4xxx.zip file from http://www.nai.com/us/downloads/upda...t_download.asp
Disable ActiveShield. (Right click on the McAfee icon by the click, point to VirusScan and click on Disable)
Unzip the following files to the folder C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO
CLEAN.DAT
NAMES.DAT
SCAN.DAT
Enable ActiveShield.
VirusScan will now be updated.

Unzipping files

Double click on the .zip file that you downloaded above.
You will see a list of files that are compressed in the .ZIP file.
Click the 'Extract' button at the top of the WinZIP screen. Select C:\Program Files\McAfee.com\VSO as the folder to save the new files into.Click 'OK' to extract the files into the new directory.

There you go!
