how does a hard drive "want" you to reformat it.. just boot the first one and drag and drop the files off of the 2nd

no thats true, i got that when i did different partitions, i have 2 drives, with a total of 5 partitions (dont ask, i made an extra on accident, i was in a hurry). anyway, one of the partitions wanted to be formatted, it was the only one on the drive in NTFS, the others were FAT32 and ext3. anyway, was it a boot drive at anytime? id just set it as the master and take your old drive out. then use a CD burner. or find a version of linux that will read NTFS, but i dont know of any.
