Default Detach Laptop Screen

This is similar to the the other thread but

I dont want to use the screen on a PC, I just want to have the screen about 2-4 feet away from the laptop.

Problems I see are battery life (not an issue), and possible data loss maybe?

anyway what would it take to basically "extend" the ribbon?

i would say this is probably the easiest route. I'm not sure what kind of quality degredation you will get and how you could do it non-permanently yet still stable. let us know. take pics.
