Default Little help

Since my old PC was completly done with (5 years old) I decided to invest in a new PC from www.BuyDirectPC.com The stuff I picked out is as follows.

Processor : AMD Athlon™ Xp 3000+ (Barton)
Memory : Dual-channel: (1 GB Total) 2x512MB DDR 400 Mhz PC3200
Hard Drive : 120 GB - 7200 Rpm 8MB cache
Video Card : ATI RADEON™ 9800 PRO 128MB, AGP 8x, TV-Out, DVI
Optical Drive : 16x DVD-ROM with software
Sound Card : OnBoard High quality AC'97 audio
Network Card : Integrated 10/100 Mbs Network Ethernet adapter
Devices with Removable Storage : 1.44 MB Floppy Disk Drive
I/O interface : 6 USB 2.0 ports (2 front and 4 rear), Parallel port (LPT1), _Serial port (COM1), Audio ports (Line-in, Line-out, Mic-in), PS/2 keyboard _& mouse connectors
PCI card : 3 Ports Firewire IEEE 1394 Pci Card
Operating Systems (OS) : Microsoft Windows Xp Home Edition

My question is about the Prcessor. After reading a few reviews a few days after I had ordered it, ($1050) A few people had said that it had become very outdated and slow. I just wanted someone to reply in how this system would run for someone who plays a few FPS games and very limited digitial video editing. Thanks.

It seems as if AMD Xp's were meant to be OC'ed. I have no idea how to actually increase the speed of it. What are the positive and negative effects of OC'ing my Xp and 9800?

if you know how to do it and understand the risks, it can increase the peformance of your computer, if you do it wrong or go to far, you can damage your equipment.

you never actually TOUCH them.. you OC the cpu by upping the fsb or adjusting the multiplier in the bios.. the video card can be overclocked with a variety of programs.. either way, read up on overclocking stuff at various overclocking sites. would be of alot of help here
