Kingwin 700 Watt Power Supply
Looks:
Generally I would not do a section on "looks" for a power supply since that isn't their strong point. Kingwin, however, spent a good amount of time designing this power supply, so a "looks section" was in order. As you can see from the pictures, the MACH 1 power supply at night time is quite a sight. The fan glows, as do the connectors, in a light blue tone. The light on the connectors has a dual purpose. Aside from making the power supply look better, only the connectors that are plugged in glows which helps to identify which connections are loose if you aren't getting the juice you want.
Testing
The following system was used to test this power supply:
Processor |
Q6600 overclocked to 3.6GHz |
Mainboard | XFX 680i LT LGA 775 |
RAM | 2GB Kingston HyperX 9600 1200MHz |
Graphics card | ATI Radeon X550 |
HDD | 150GB 10K Western Digital Raptor SATA |
Overall the power supply performed very well in the tests despite that the system has been overclocked. Tests showed about 1% deviation in the 12V rail and about 4-5% deviation in the 5V rail which falls well into the specified conditions.
5V | 12V | 3.3V | |
Idle | 5.18 ~ 5.19 | 12.30 ~ 12.31 | - |
Shut Down | 5.19 |
12.29 ~ 12.31 | - |
Start Up | 5.18 ~ 5.20 | 12.27 ~ 12.31 | - |
Load | 5.19 ~ 5.20 | 12.29 ~ 12.31 | - |
Bios | 5.08 | 12.14 | 3.28 |
Conclusion
Kingwin Mach 1 700 W power supply passed all checkpoints with flying colors. It did what it was supposed to do well and was quiet. It is an excellent power supply with an excellent price tag of $154.99 (courtesy of newegg.com) which will be slightly expensive if you are planning on building a cheap system. As I see it, the price is well worth compared to what you get. Congratulations goes to Kingwin for making a power supply work as well as it looks.
