AOpen HP-590 Vibration Headphones

Review by Harry Lam on 07.22.03
Product provided by AOpen, MSRP: $24.95

Conclusion:

I am quite impressed with the quality and innovation that AOpen has packed into this product, despite a couple minor complaints.  Most gamers should be able to appreciate the additional level of immersion that these headphones provide.  Given the very affordable $25 MSRP, the AOpen HP-590 headphones present a very economical and unique audio solution for gamers.  The affordable nature of this product makes it perfect for LAN parties (and again, I can't stress greatly enough how much it really enhances the gaming environment) as well as for casual gaming.  Although other products with greatly increased audio quality also provide a different type of enhancement to the gaming experience, I would recommend the AOpen HD-590s for the gamer who isn't willing to spend upwards of $100 on headphones (as the distinction in audio quality between the AOpen HD-590s and a pair of $60 headphones is relatively marginal).

Pros:
-The vibration bass feature makes the product quite unique
-Compactable nature adds convenience
-Greatly enhances the gaming experience
-Very affordable (~$20 street price)
-Additional accessories are nice to have

Cons:
-Audio quality isn't the greatest (but on par for its price range)
-Constricting nature
-Lack of an auto-off feature
