Clear Harmony Noise Cancelling Headphones:
The Clear Harmony Noise Cancelling Headphones are at the high end of Able Planet's product lineup and are aimed at those consumers with discriminating taste for audio. Able Planet packages them in a very nice box with all of the accessories you could need for use in standard environments or even on airplanes where noise cancelling headphones really help. Clear Harmony arrives encased in a hard cover neoprene travel container. They come with:
- A Set of Instructions
- A Set of Batteries
- A removable volume adjustable connection cord
- A Dual Pin Airline adapter
- A 1/4 inch Stereo Adapter
- The Able Planet Clear Harmony Noise Cancelling Headset
Clear Harmony's noise cancelling feature is enabled via an on/off switch located on the left headphone. The noise cancelling feature operates As most other noise cancelling headsets do, either one or both headphones are embedded with a microphone which listens to background sounds and then generates a cancelling audio wave which is projected inside the headset. In most low end headphones with noise cancelling this usually helps eliminate some sound but at the expense of either a high pitched background noise or a constant white noise in the background that can lead to headaches. The Clear Harmony headset delivers negligible background noise and are comfortable to wear during long trips or over an extended period of time. The battery life of the headset ranged from 9 hours while just on and cancelling noise to 6 hours during playback of music and other audio. One of the best features of the Clear Harmony headset is the removable in line volume control. We immediately found this feature helpful on airline flights where you wish to sleep and not listen to music and simply enable the noise cancelling feature. The removable cord allows you much more freedom with no worry of snagging the cord on anything. The headset holds firmly in place and is light and comfortable.

We had the opportunity to test the Clear Harmony Headset on a recent trip overseas and it performed flawlessly eliminating almost all of the background noise and still produced excellent audio while attached to an MP3 player. We compared the noise isolation and cancellation against headsets from Phillips and Bose and found the noise cancellation better than both the Bose and Phillips while the Bose did seal around the ears providing better isolation. This isolation did come at nearly twice the weight of the Clear Harmony headset and would not be comfortable during extended use. The Bose headset also cost more at a suggested retail price of $499.
Conclusion:
For consumers seeking the best audio headset with active noise cancellation the Clear Harmony is a Clear winner. Able Planet has really done their homework and produced a headset that takes the needs of the consumer into mind and provides them with a versatile product and excellent quality.
