mStation Orb 2.1 Stereo

mStation Orb 2.1

Testing

Upon first glance, we assumed that the mStation 2.1 Stereo Orb would be just another run in the mill, cheaply designed, third party radio with an iPod connector attached to it. Boy were we wrong. With amazing sound, the ability to connect the Orb to your computer and sync your iPod with iTunes, and the ability to play other devices that have a headphone jack, the mStation Orb has something for everyone. The developers at mStation have really thought this one through. The first thing that you see when you look at the Orb is the sleek design, whether or not the iPod is attached. The wrap around speaker cover and the buttons on top should not have been placed better for this product. The interchangeable dock cradles are perfect for any iPod that you connect. With six colors available, the orb will look like it was made for your iPod, regardless of what model you have. The Orb has sound like no other, Perhaps the most important aspect of a speaker system. On the remote you can control the level of treble and the levels of bass, allowing you to customize your orb to the sound that fits you best. The bass is clear and can be turned all the way up while at loud volumes and have no noticable distortion. Looking at the orb, one would be shocked how clear the sound is, coming from such a small device. Syncing the Orb to iTunes is simple. You simply plug in the mini USB to the back of the orb and the other end into any of the USB ports on your computer. You then connect your iPod to the Orb and the same way you connect your iPod to your computer directly, you can then sync your iPod to iTunes. When you leave your iPod connected to the Orb, even while power is off, the Orb charges the iPod. This alone is a convenient feature for anyone that uses their iPod on a regular basis. Last but not least we have the dock cradles. Six cradles are included with the mStation allowing for any type of iPod to be docked. The cradles are easily changed for people with more than one iPod. The Orb was not designed for the iPhone, however, it works well with it. Upon connecting the iPhone you are prompted to put the iPhone into airplane mode, so you don't receive any calls while in the middle of playback. This is okay, however you can leave it on and if you do get a call, music will stop playing, your phone will ring, and you can take it off the dock to accept your call, or ignore it if your listening to a good song. If you are to answer the iPhone, make sure you pick it up off of the cradle or you will not be able to hear the person on the other end of the phone.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the mStation 2.1 Orb Stereo is an amazing piece of equipment. For only $129.95 you get more than a "bang for your buck". The Orb can be connected to your computer and synced with your iPod while docked. If you are looking for a docking stereo system for your iPod, the mStation 2.1 Orb Stereo is the system to have. The mStation delivers awesome performance while maintaining easy use and a crisp clear sound that can be matched by few of its kind. mStation found a way to combine style with practicality - something not achievable by many companies. We look forward to seeing what else mStation has to offer for iPod and iPhone users in the future.
