LANCOOL K7: Hybrid Aluminum Case
Conclusion
Lian-Li has always made amazing, strong, stylish cases, with few exceptions. It doesn't matter if they push a product out under a different name, the quality is still there. This case will live up to its name. It's a case made to be taken from LAN party to LAN party, and will take the abuse of movement and transport happily. As hard as it is to scratch or dent the outer 'shell', the insides are even better protected. If you are turned off by the fact that it seems too "plain", try throwing a couple LED fans behind the front grill/filter system. I promise the effect is dazzling enough to catch a few eyes.
I love this case. Really, I can only see one improvement I would like made on the case, and that's making the optical drive bays actually be doors on hinges, so you don't have to remove a part and mar the otherwise perfect image this is this case. Hopefully Lian...er...I mean, LANCOOL will read this maybe take that into consideration for future generations of this case.
With enough room to fit almost all users components, excellent cooling, and a nice simple beauty we can't help but love this case. Did we mention the brushed aluminum look on the outside? A tool-less design and a black annodized aluminum construction leads to a hassle free installation in a nice looking case. While the inside may not be as refined as the outside it does the job and includes extras that most other cases lack. Extras such as filters for the fans, built in cable ties on the back of the motherboard backplane, cable management holes cut into the backplane, and top mounted I/O ports. As you look over the design you will find that the case has been engineered for cooling from the ground up, ventilated slot covers as well as a ventilated design at the back of the case, not to mention the aluminum casing all act to increase airflow and expel heat.
While the LANCOOL might not be the cheapest case we have seen its features are pretty top end though more for functionality rather than looks. With all of the cable management built into this case it is a shame that no window was included in the side panel as most layouts done inside this case will look clean. If your looking for a good case with a lot of extra functional features the LANCOOL (Lian Li) Metal Boned K7 may be the case for you.
If you are interested in the case, I recommend looking into some of the necessaries that are available. I just ordered the Aluminum Wheels for the bottom so I can slide the entire case around under my desk and wheel it out to plug in things or insert disks or whatnot. But that's entirely your discretion. I highly recommend this case though. If you are in the market for a new computer case, take a look at this one. It really is gorgeous.
