Samsung SyncMaster 151MP LCD Monitor Review

Published By: Paul Machado
Review Date: August 4/2002
Product Supplied By: Samsung Canada

Construction/Design:

Just like the Tantus LTM1575W and SyncMaster 191T I reviewed earlier the design of them all have something in common. The design aspect shared through all of these displays is that fact they they are all sleek and take up a minimal amount of space. Being LCD screens the technology itself allows for this sleek design since there are no large cathode ray tubes to cause this bulkiness we see in CRT monitors.

In my opinion I really like how Samsung designs their stands. The stand on the 151MP provides substantial amounts of support to prevent it from getting knocked over and looks great at the same time. The 151MP stand can also get folded away or removed with the press of a button in case the user decides to purchase a standard VESA stand which is supported on this display.

The Infrared Remote:

The remote is one aspect included with the 151MP that should not be looked over. The 151MP remote allows you to control all of the TV aspects of the display. What I believe Samsung should have done is make the remote able to control your PC as well. Although this is a minor quirk. From the remote you are able to control the PIP feature, change channel, lower and raise volume, basically what any other remote would do. Also you are able to choose the source of which component you want to be displayed on the screen whether it be the PC, TV, DVD player, etc.

Software/What's Included:

With a price tag of about $800USD or $1,270CDN Samsung is sure to include everything you need to perform all of the capabilities of this display. Whether is be software or cables Samsung always includes the accessories in its packages. What you get when you open the box is the Natural Color software which is a color management system software, the Owner's Manual, 15 pin D-sub Signal Cable, Stereo Audio Cable, RCA DTV Cable (option), TV Tuner Box (option), DC Adapter, Power Cord, Remote,  2x AAA batteries and of course the Samsung Warranty Card. All of this comes packaged in its own little box.

Lets now have a look at how the 151MP performs and conclude this review.
