Kingston HyperX 4GB Overall: 77.5 |
The Crucial 1066 4GB kit as stated before is not a performance based RAM, though with a 10.2 overall score higher than the Kingston HyperX 4GB kit shows that this kit doesn't lack too far behind. Also, if one was to over clock the Crucial 4GB kit, you may be able to obtain the same or near to the same score as the Kingston 4GB RAM. This depend entirely on your motherboard and the other components within your system. The test rig we installed our kit in has the ASUS M3A78-T motherboard which uses a slider bar to adjust the over-clocking of the motherboard. This slider bar was very inconvenient and rendered the testing of the Crucial 4GB kit in an over clocked state useless.
Vista Properties:
Memory operations per second resulted in 5.9, which is the maximum score shown by the Windows Experience Index. |
Conclusion:
The Crucial 4Gig 1066RAM Kit should not be faulted for not making the performance numbers that we have seen on other memory reviews since this 4Gig Kit is not listed as Performance gaming RAM. This upgrade kit should perk the interests of those of you who are looking to run virtual machines on a single workstation and need the extra RAM to run multiple virtual machines at one time. This kit may not be the bleeding edge of RAM performance but it is stable enough to get you to the cutting edge of stable virtual machines running smoothly. At the time of this review, the kit was under $100 and for those who are looking to build a lab environment using VMware's ESXi, putting together a lab environment is actually affordable. Affordability is key in today economy. I would like to thank Crucial for sending TWL this 4Gig Kit for review and look forward to reviewing more of their products in the future.
