A Closer Look at the LX-920

Photo's taken from BuyDirectPC.com Web site.

As you can see the LX-920 is feature packed. It comes stock with a card reader, web cam, fire wire, four USB ports, ethernet, four speakers, and a sub woofer, and IR. Now take a breath and get ready for the optional extras which include:

I think the saying is "This Is not your dads laptop". You might ask if it's worth it the cost associated with that performance. If you need the power (and everyone does) then it is. Our opinion is that this meant as a desktop replacement and has all the tools and functionality that a true on the go businessman/woman would seek. The screen is by far the best characteristic of the laptop. Gorgeous is too light a term, it has to be seen to be appreciated. Movies will never be the same on your dull toned down LCD surface. The web cam has obvious telecommunications implications, as does the card reader and the speakers for presentations.

Build Quality

Overall the laptop is constructed extremely well, and it seems built to last. The only exception seems to be the monitor hinge which though tight seems to make the screen flicker sometimes when moved. This could only be our model and after research there are no other users of the same model which have this problem. the DVD, Card Reader, and all other hardware function flawlessly.

Battery Power

The battery life of the LX-920 was a little below other laptops. Most 17" laptops have a low battery life due to the screen power requirements and the LX-920 is no exception. As measured from a full charge till the point that the laptop shuts down to preserve memory and battery you will have 2 hours 5 Minutes. While not terrible it could be better.

On to conclusions and upgrades.
