The IX38 Quad GT has CPU support extending all the way back to the P4 and as current as Core 2 Quad/Duo/Extreme 45nm based CPU's. Any processor you purchase at the time of this writing should be plug and play in this board.
With 3 different type of PCI-E slots, and two PCI slots included your expansion needs should be well covered. The IX38 Quad GT onboard SATA allows consumers the ability to use SATA RAID in 0,1,5, and 10 configurations. The e-SATA ports also support RAID in 0,1 and JBOB configurations through the JMicron JMB363 controller.
Onboard 7.1 Audio as well as optical S/PDIF and an HDMI audio header means you can literally hook the IX38 Quad GT up to numerous sound output devices of your choice for the ultimate in gaming experience. Other I/O Bracket ports mentioned earlier are the legacy PS2 ports and a Firewire 400 port.
