Gigabyte GA EP45 DQ6 Motherboard

Introduction

With the costs of energy going up, it is becoming more and more essential to keep the energy consumption to a minimum in order to save few bucks that could be better spent toward something more essential or enjoyable. Gigabyte has considered such an idea and decided to apply it towards higher end motherboards which, to say the least, are power hungry beasts. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 is the end resultof such an idea. As you may have inferred from the name, the GA-EP45-DQ6 is based off an Intel based chipset, the P45. The E in the EP45 stands for the Energy Efficient series, while the DQ6 stands for high performance. Furthermore, if you were to go to Gigabyte's web site and look at more specifications, you would find out that aside from advertising the energy efficiency, Gigabyte is also advertising 1333+ DDR2 ram speeds through overclocking as well as exceptional stability, security and durability. Having read all that I could not helped to have very high expectations of both the board and the bios it came with. Read on to discover how this board performs as I attempt to tackle and challenge each of these statements.
