Conclusion:

Gigabyte had a goal, to build an energy efficient midrange motherboard, and I think they very much succeeded with the GA-EP45-DS3R. There are a lot of boards in the DS series offered by Gigabyte, varying in feature set and price range, but for the price of $126.99 this board is an exceptional deal. This board did suffer from some initial launch problems, due to buggy BIOS, but I believe they've hammered most of that out with the new BIOS revisions, and added some features. Both the raid and overclocking settings work very well and the power phase shifting of the motherboard will help satisfy the eco-conscious nerds out there. The board does fault in some less than thoughtful layout, but shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience unless you are constantly swapping out parts. Gigabyte has put out a quality product at the mid-range market that delivers a great feature set comparable to higher priced boards. I really feel they have a winner on their hands, and as such I would like to award them.....
