Overclocking
The DRAGON Ultra has a nifty BIOS which puts all of the
overclocking options into one section: the "Soyo Combo Setup". In the combo
setup the user has a panoply of options for overclocking. The FSB can be
increased in 1 MHz increments up to 255, and the multiplier can be adjusted up
to 14x. The voltage can be adjusted on the CPU, DIMM sockets, and AGP slot up to
1.85, 2.8, and 1.8, respectively. All the pertinent memory timings and tweaks
are adjustable, and the CPU:RAM FSB clock can be set to synchronous (133:133)
and asynchronous (133:166) modes. It is entirely jumperless, to boot. Finally, a very nice feature, for those who do not know what they are doing, allows users to set their system to normal, fast, and turbo under the combo setup which will automatically adjust settings within the BIOS. This is a nice newbie friendly feature, once
again showing Soyo's commitment to satisfaction for the end user, whatever their
skills with a PC may be.
Conclusion
First, thanks very much to Soyo for it's generous support in making this review happen. The DRAGON Ultra is a spectacular board. It is fast, it looks great, and it is one of the most feature rich boards on the market. Combined with the Sigma box and it's bundled software, it is a very attractive mainboard. While the price is a little steep (around $160 USD), it's price can certainly be justified by it's included audio, LAN, USB 2.0, and RAID: features which would drain a wallet if bought separately. You really can't go wrong with the DRAGON Ultra, in any way, shape, or form.
