LITE-ON BLU-RAY DISC PLAYER

Conclusion:

The Philips and Lite-On Blu-ray Disc Reader is such a well made optical Blu-ray player that it is hard to put into words. From the exceptional construction and quality, down to the fact that it is extremely hard to hear - even when you put your ear close to it while a disc is playing inside, is amazing. The drive just oozes 1st class device from the time you observe the box, all the way until you put it into action on your favorite 1080P HDTV and HTPC system. We observed the clarity and crispness of the Blu-ray player on a 37" 1080P HDTV Westinghouse digital display and were in complete awe at the added realism displayed by the drive. We also appreciated that Lite-ON had bundled the latest Cyberlink PowerDVD Blu-ray Disc Edition software with their unit. This drive is 1st class all the way with the added functionality that you can take it wherever you go, and have high definition Blu-ray movies playing wherever you want, due to being an external drive, and small enough that it is easily portable from place to place. Its' convenient power supply adapter with that has the prongs situated so-as to not take up more than one outlet plug at a time (how many times have you purchased a device whose power adapter took up no less than 3 outlets). Yes, you do pay a small premium in price for the external unit, compared to the internal unit, but think about the added functionality you get when you can carry it with you - to any place you want to watch your movies. We feel this device has everything going for it and in essence, sets the standard for portable Blu-ray devices. The only thing we could wish for that this unit did not have, was the ability to function as an optical burner. Granted we feel that the need to carry around such a device would be even better with the added functionality of also being a burner, but for about $150 you cannot go wrong in selecting the Lite-On DX-401S
