Mophie Juice Pack - iPhone 3G

Testing

With Apple claiming up to 5 hours of talk time on 3G, our first task was to see how long the battery of the iPhone 3G ACTUALLY lasted on its own. We were optimistic, but unimpressed with the results. Settings for all tests were done with all settings, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, etc. enabled. Although Wi-Fi was enabled, it was not connected to any network, so the phone was still using 3G and all of its battery sucking-features. Results were as follows:

iPhone 3G Mophie Juice Pack

Just like our previous tests with other Mophie products, the Mophie iPhone 3G Juice Pack performed better than expected, giving us nearly one and a half charges of our iPhone from completely dead. Much like the original Juice Pack for the first-gen iPhone, the Juice Pack for the 3G arrived dead as a doornail, defying the claim of being all juiced up and ready to go.

Conclusion

If you're like me and are addicted to your iPhone 3G, the Mophie Juice Pack is the thing for you. Delivering more than double the battery life you would normally get, the Mophie iPhone 3G Juice Pack comes in at just under $100. Although not the cheapest iPhone accessory, it's only about double the price of a decent case purchased from the Apple store. As much as we love the iPhone, we have no choice but to award the Mophie iPhone 3G Juice Pack with our Awesome Hardware Award.
